About the Event

THIS EVENT IS HOSTED BY INTERRUPTING CRIMINALIZATION  BDNH Principle Session #1 - CopsOutofCare

We’re thrilled to host our first Beyond Do No Harm principles session for the year, focusing on Principle #1 #CopsOutOfCare, with organizers from #DPHMustDivest, Frontline Wellness Network, and Mass General.

This is a recurring learning space for health care and public health workers, impacted community members, advocates, and organizers working toward interrupting criminalization in the medical-industrial complex. Each month we will have featured speakers discussing a Beyond Do No Harm topic for the first hour, and the second hour will focus on practical questions and challenges that participants can workshop in breakout rooms.

ASL, Spanish interpretation and live captioning will be provided. Register for the principles session.

Break-Outs

In the second hour participants will spin off into role-based breakouts hosted by abolitionist health care and public health worker orgs including APHA End Police Violence and Nurses for Sexual and Reproductive Health.  We’re also excited to collaborate with White Coats for Black Lives and Network to Advance Abolitionist Social Work to move these principles into action. Instead of joining the role-based breakouts, if you are already part of a group envisioning or building a campaign related to interrupting criminalization in the MIC, check out our Pod proposals below!

Now Accepting: Pod Proposals

We recognize that political education is much more powerful when it is done in community and through deepening relationships. We encourage network members to invite their friends, co-workers, and organizers to form an IC BDNH Pod (3 People Minimum) committed to attending events when possible and discussing implementation during break-outs in the second hour of our sessions.
