Faith & Wellness Ministry Initiative

Bridging Faith and Wellness for Stronger Communities

Religion is a social determinant of health. Faith shapes how individuals and communities understand healing, cope with struggles, and seek support. For many, especially in Black communities, the church is more than a place of worship; it’s a cornerstone of resilience, connection, and hope.

Our Mission

To partner with Black churches and faith institutions to:
✔ Prevent suicide through early intervention and education
✔ Reduce mental health stigma with faith-friendly dialogue
✔ Improve access to therapy by bridging gaps between spirituality and clinical care

How We Work

Through community mobilization, faith leader advocacy, and public health collaboration, we:
🔹 Train pastors, leaders, and congregations in mental health first aid & trauma-informed care
🔹 Partner with faith groups to host workshops on depression, anxiety, grief, and more

🔹 Connect congregants to culturally responsive therapists

🔹 Engage pastors to attend pastoral retreats
🔹 Advocate for policies that support faith-based mental health initiatives

Faith communities shouldn’t have to choose between prayer and therapy—both save lives.

Join a movement of faith leaders committed to breaking mental health stigma. Your church can be a lifeline.

Bring our suicide prevention and mental health workshops to your congregation—tailored for faith leaders and members.

Your gift helps train pastors, fund therapy access, and turn faith spaces into hubs of healing. Every dollar makes a difference.

Why This Matters for Black Communities

  • Black Americans are 20% more likely to report serious psychological distress but half as likely to receive mental health care (SAMHSA).

  • Churches are trusted spaces—integrating mental health outreach here breaks barriers.

  • Suicide rates among Black youth have risen dramatically—faith leaders can be lifesaving gatekeepers.
