Nashville's Black Community

Locally, Black Mental Health Village is an inclusive grassroots organization of Black people in Nashville working to mobilize Black Nashvillians regardless of class, national origin, immigration status, age, sexual orientation, sexual identity, and gender expression.

Black Mental Health Village serves the community by creating support groups, an online community centered around Black mental, conferences, community discussions that center mental health in the Black community, and community action for Black Nashvillians, allowing them space to respond to their own experiences.

Because Black Mental Health Village understands how important it is to have a therapist that understands your identity and your past experiences, we are working to highlight culturally competent and patient-centered Black licensed mental health clinicians for Black Nashvillians seeking providers.

We are also working to build collaborations between different organizations in Nashville that play a role in advancing the whole health of Black Nashvillians. We hope to advance our agenda for our community through transformative grassroots engagement, strategic partnerships, and influencing local and state policy.

Community Programming

Black communities in the US

Black Mental Health Village serves the national Black community by creating accessible and culturally competent mental health education, and an online community centered around Black mental health. We are also working to build collaborations between different organizations in the US that play a role in empowering and advancing the whole health of Black people.

Using our collaborations, support groups, and evidence-based research, we highlight the mental health needs of Black people & address their concerns, the health disparities associated with social determinants of health, and the harmful behaviors that we use to cope with life, by leveraging strategic partnerships, transformative grassroots engagement, compiling & creating resources, and by addressing inequitable state and national policy.

People ready for change

Black Mental Health Village seeks to create supportive communities and provide valuable mental health knowledge and resources that play a role in the transformation of our society. We aim to encourage and empower the next generation of Black mental health providers and community leaders!

Using our strategic partnerships, support groups, and evidence-based research, we aim to highlight the mental health needs of Black people & address their concerns by leveraging collaboration between organizations doing the work and people who are passionate about creating a change.

We are inspired by the belief that everyday people can shape and mold our society for the better. That's why we are creating an online community to mobilize people from all over to take action and create a meaningful & lasting impact.

We hope to inspire and promote impactful solutions to some of the most critical issues we face through the power of civic engagement and hope to advance our agenda through community-led interventions and policy changes.
