About the Event

Join us for an informative and thought-provoking evening as we screen the award-winning documentary Aftershock and host a community discussion to learn about the maternal health disparities faced by Black women. The film sheds light on the experiences of Black women during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, highlighting the systemic barriers they face in accessing quality healthcare and support. Following the screening, we will engage in an interactive conversation with healthcare providers, advocates, and community leaders to discuss the impact of systemic racism and bias on maternal health outcomes for Black women, and ways we can work together to create change.

This event is hosted by Homeland Heart Collective, the Men IQ Network, the Black Mental Health Village, and Tennessee Justice Center

We will have food and drinks at the event. The event venue is ADA-accessible.

This event will take place in the middle of Black Maternal Health Week 2023
